Prayer When Seeing the Kaaba

DDHK. ORG – Seeing the Kaaba up close is almost every dream muslim. Imam An-Nawawi in the Book of Al-Idhah fi Manasikil Hajji mentions prayer which is recommended to be read when viewing the Kaaba.

Imam An-Nawawi encourages anyone who sees this cube-shaped building to recite the following prayer:

O Allah, Allah ّفَهُ وَكَرّمَهُ مِمَّنْ حَجَّهُ أَوِاعْتَمَرَهُ تَشْرِيفًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَبِرًّا

Meaning, "O Allah, add glory, majesty, honor, and greatness to this Baitullah. add also the glory, honor, majesty, and goodness for those who perform pilgrimage or pilgrimage who glorify and respect the Kaaba "

The prayer is read after a prayer that has been read by a tabi'in namely Saíd bin al-Musayyib Rahimahullah (a tabiin scholar) according to Atsar narrated by Ibn Abi Syaibah in al-Mushonnaf 7/102 and al-Baihaqi in As-Sunan al-Kubro 5/73 with authentic sanad, if he enters the haram mosque and sees the Baitullah, he says

O Lord

"O Allah, verily You are As-Salaam (The holy / safe from all disgrace and shortcomings), and from You is salvation, so welcome us, O our Lord, with safety

The prayer when seeing the baitullah does not stop here. Imam An-Nawawi advised people who saw the Kaaba to pray anything related to the interests of the world and the hereafter because the gates of heaven were opened for people who were looking at the Kaaba. But the most important of all is asking Allah's forgiveness (istighfar) after reading the above prayer.

The Kaaba is a building in the middle of the holiest mosque in Islam, the Grand Mosque, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This place is the most sacred place in Islam.

Referred to as Baitullah or Bait Allah (Arabic: بَيْت ٱللَّٰه, lit. 'House of Allah'), and is the Qibla (Arabic: قِبْلَة, facing direction) for Muslims around the world when establishing Prayer.

When Islam first appeared, Muslims used to face towards Jerusalem when offering their prayers, before being moved to the Kaaba, based on the revelations of the Qur'an to the Islamic prophet Muhammad

According to history, this holy place has been rebuilt several times, especially by the Islamic prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Isma'il (Ismael), when Ibrahim returned to Mecca after leaving his wife Hajar and Ismail at the behest of Allah. Tawaf, walking around the Kaaba seven times, is a pillar of Hajj and Umrah. The area around the Kaaba where worshipers perform tawaf is also called the mataf.

Hopefully all of us, can see the Kaaba from a close distance, dear friends. Wallahu a'lam. [DDHK News]
