Hajj Requirements

Pilgrimage has mandatory requirements that must be met. This is to ensure that someone is exposed to the obligation of Hajj. These conditions also determine whether or not a person enters the pilgrimage obligation.

From various statements in the Qur'an and hadith, scholars mention at least seven obligatory conditions for the pilgrimage. People who fulfill these conditions are subject to the obligation of pilgrimage. The seven obligatory conditions for Hajj are as follows:

Trust us, thank you

Meaning: "There are seven obligatory conditions for Hajj, namely Islam, puberty, reason, independence, having a vehicle and supplies, safety on the road, and conditions enabling the pilgrimage," (Taqrib on Kifayatul Akhyar, [Beirut, Darul Pole Al-Ilmiyah: 2001 M/1422 H], page 177)

Some of the standards for being able to perform Hajj according to the views of the scholars are as follows:
1. Have provisions and vehicles that can take someone for pilgrimage to Mecca. If he does not have a vehicle, then he has the financial ability to pay for the pilgrimage he will take.
2. Leaving money as a living for his family as long as he is left on pilgrimage.
3. There are people who are able to look after things and their families.
4. There is security during the trip, both security related to life and property.
5. It is possible for pilgrims to travel for Hajj from a physical and time perspective. Wallaahu a'lam

May Allah make it easy for all of us to perform Hajj and Umrah in the holy land.
