Idara Noor-ul-Islam Mosque in Sham Shui Po

PLACE OF PRAYER

SHAM SHUI PO | HONG KONG - Who doesn't know the Ladies Market in Mong Kok? My experience living in Hong Kong 8 years, if there are guests or tourists come, definitely ask to be escorted there.

Yes, more than 100 shops in the “street market” along Tung Choi Street selling cheap products for Hong Kong-style souvenirs. Starting from clothes, accessories, to souvenirs that are sold at negotiable prices, making the Ladies Market a shopping paradise that tempts travelers. In the Ladies Market there are also various other products, such as watches, cosmetics, bags, home furnishings, and compact discs (CDs).

Not so far from the Ladies Market, only one train station (MTR) is separated, there are also other shopping centers that are often visited by tourists, if they are traveling to Hong Kong. Namely, the shopping center for cheap electronic products Sham Shui Po. To be precise, on Apliu Street. Here are lined up shops selling radio equipment, cellphones, watches, and even cameras.

Well, for Muslim Friends, of course shopping activities should not make us forget to carry out the obligation of praying the five daily prayers. If you happen to be shopping for souvenirs at the Ladies Market or hunting for cheap cellphones and laptops at Sham Shui Po, do you already know which mosques, mushalla, or madrasas can be visited for prayer?

Through this article, I would like to give good news, that near these two shopping locations there is the Madrasa Idara Noor-ul-Islam, whose room is also used for congregational prayers. In fact, it is also used for the implementation of Friday prayers.

The location is on the 1st floor of the Wing Luen Mansion building, which is located on Fuk Wa Street number 177A-177C. From Sham Shui Po train (MTR) station, Sahabat Muslim take Exit D2. Then, just walk about 2 minutes to the Northeast on Kweilin Street towards Fuk Wa Street, until you are in front of the stairs going up to the Idara Noor-ul-Islam Mosque. Its position, right next to the McDonald's outlet, only separated by a narrow alley.

If Sahabat Muslim's position is in the shopping center on Apliu Street, just walk to the Northwest for about 7 minutes, along Nam Cheung Street until you find Fuk Wa Street. Meanwhile, if you are at the Ladies Market, you have to enter the Mong Kok train station (MTR), then take the train and get off at Sham Shui Po station. It only takes about 12 minutes to reach the Idara Noor-ul-Islam Mosque.

What Muslim friends need to know is that renting a flat in Hong Kong is very expensive. Including, the management of the Noor-ul-Islam Madrasah must also spend quite a lot of money for the monthly operational costs of the flat which was "transformed" into a madrasa and mosque. So it is better if Sahabat Muslim should contribute, putting their Hong Kong dollar bill into the charity box marked “Donation Box” provided, to help ease the management. So that, these madrassas and mosques can continue to exist and their existence can continue to be utilized by many people, including Muslim and Muslimah travelers from Indonesia.
