DDHK News, Indonesia - Indonesian Migrant Alumni Family (WE) Ponorogo in collaboration with the Migrant Institute (MI) Dompet Dhuafa held a Seminar on the Independence of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BMI) at the Karangpatihan Village Hall, Balong, Ponorogo, Tuesday (3/6/2014).
The seminar with the theme of "Happiness in your own country" was attended by 85 participants, consisting of BMI Purna or their families, representatives of IKIP PGRI students, representatives of the All About Ponorogo Community (SETENPO), and representatives of the Media Mataraman Ponorogo.
The event, which was hosted by DDHK volunteer Siti Ruliyah and the coordinating team of KAMI, Sukorejo District, presented a lecturer at the Muhammadiyah University of Ponorogo who is also the Manager of the KAMI Center Ponorogo, Rohmadi Edogawa, M.Pi.
The Deputy Chairperson of US, Tri Wahyuni, in his speech explained that this seminar was a continuation Road Show Seminar for BMI Purna and their families. Previously similar events were held in Kupuk - Bungkal, Beton - Siman, and Joho - D Perdagangan - Madiun. "With events like this, BMI Purna can get to know each other, stay in touch and work together," he said.
The Head of Karangpatihan Village, Eko Mulyadi, expressed his great pleasure and gave a positive appreciation of the KAMI Ponorogo program. The event was also filled with testimonials from successful BMI Purna from Karangpatihan, Sulastri. Once worked in the United Arab Emirates, now he has successfully opened a material transportation services business.
The seminar speaker, Rohmadi Edogawa, started his material by socializing the introduction of WE, the work program and the purpose for which it was founded. With the increase in the number of BMI abroad, the economic level of the community will also increase and this is followed by other problems, both pre-departure, in destination countries and former BMIs. This is what makes MI DD and OUR members moved to engage in advocacy and empowerment of independence. "One of the objectives of this seminar is to change wrong mindsets and get rid of prestige," he said.
