Who is a friend?

In terminology, the word "friend" is a form of jama 'or plural from the word "sahabi" which means "to accompany, accompany, and interact directly".

Ibn Hajar al Asqalani in his book "al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah" states, "A friend (ash-shahabi) is a person who has met the Prophet in a state of faith in him and died in a state of Islam."

How many companions of the Prophet Muhammad were there?

It is difficult to determine the exact number, because there are various differences in historical sources.

Imam Al-Qasthalani in his book al-Mawahib stated, "The number of companions of the Prophet at the time of the Fathu Makkah incident was 7000 people, then in the event of the Tabuk war it increased to 70.000, and finally during the Hajj Wada event, their number reached around 124.000."

Qur'anic verses about the friends, the challenges they face, and their attitudes

At-Taubah, verse 100:

والسابقون الأولون من المهاجرين والأنصار والذين اتبعوهم بإحسان رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه وأعد لهم جنات تجري تحتها الأنهار خالدين فيها أبدا ذلك الفوز العظيم

Meaning: And those who were earlier (converted to Islam) among the Muhajirin and Ansar and those who followed them well, Allah was pleased with them and they were also pleased with Allah. Allah provided them with the heavens under which rivers flowed. They are in it for ever. That is a great victory.

Al-Baqarah, verse 214:

Meaning: Do you think that you will go to heaven, even though you have not yet come (the trial) like the previous people before you? They were struck by calamities and afflictions, and were shaken (with various trials) so that the Prophet and those who believed with him said: "When will Allah's help come?" Remember, Allah's help is very close.

Ali Imran, verse 142:

Meaning: Do you think that you will go to heaven, even though it is not real to Allah the people who are jihad among you and there are not real people who are patient.

The story of Umm Fadhl

His real name is Lubabah bint Harits bin Hazn bin Buhair al Hilaliyyah. She is the wife of the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad, Abbas bin Abdul Muttallib.

Lubabah became the first woman to convert to Islam after Khadijah bint Khuwailid. She was the first woman who dared to defend the slave victims of Abu Lahab.

Lubabah is the mother of six scholars. One of them, Abdullah bin Abbas. She is the milk mother of Husain bin Ali bin Abi Talib.

The story of Ikrimah bin Abu Jahl

He was the son of Abu Jahl, who hated the Prophet because he wanted to please his father. He was a brave young Quraysh and was good at horse riding.

Ikrimah had a grudge against the Prophet Muhammad after the death of his father in the Battle of Badr. He attacked the Muslims during the Fathu Makkah incident until he fled to Yemen.

Regarding the conversion of Ikrimah, the Holy Prophet said, “Ikrimah bin Abu Jahal will come among you as a believer and a Muhajir. Because of that, don't you curse at his father. Because cursing someone who has died means hurting the living person. In fact, the deceased could not hear the curse. "

After converting to Islam, Ikrimah became an expert on the Qur'an and became the foremost cavalry to defend the Muslims. He died during the Yarmuk war with Al Harits bin Hisham and Ayyasy bin Abi Rabi'ah.

What is the wisdom from a friend's sirah?

With all the tests they received, the companions of the Prophet proved that Allah's help was close. So, how about us? With all the conveniences received, do we still think Allah is far away? [DDHK News]
