Dompet Dhuafa Make Health a Priority Service

DDHK. ORG - Dompet Dhuafa Until now, health is still a priority. Among others, through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa and the We Care Foundation open free action services for survivors flood Bandang in Haji Amir Syah Village and Saleh Muhammad Dars Village, Thatta City, Sindh Province, Pakistan on Thursday (13/10/2022).

From this program, it was recorded that the majority of patients were children with complaints disease skin.

Narwan as Response-Recovery Manager DMC Dompet Dhuafa explained, "There are 100 patients and the majority of patients are children with complaints of body spots and itching."

Dompet Dhuafa plans to build two drilled wells in Saleh Muhammad Dars Village and Haji Amir Syah Village after completing the health service action.

“Because there is no clean drinking water supply and all the drilled wells have been flooded. They do not have a clean water source. That's why we took the initiative to build a drilled well in that location," continued Narwan reporting from Pakistan, Friday (14/10/2022).

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) stated that 5,5 million have difficulty accessing clean water supplies due to flash floods. This has worsened the health conditions of disaster-affected communities, especially women and children. More than seven million children and women now need immediate access to nutrition services, while nearly four million children do not have access to health services.

“Damage to sanitation facilities and water supplies has resulted in 5,5 million people no longer having access to safe drinking water. Even though UNICEF provides one million liters of clean water every day, many families have no alternative access to drinking water that contains disease.

“They are now bearing the brunt of deadly water-borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dengue fever and malaria, which only amplify existing acute malnutrition,” continued UNICEF.

Priority Dompet Dhuafa

Dompet Dhuafa in line with UNICEF's proposal that health is one of the top priority services for flood-affected residents in Pakistan.

"Increasing nutrition and nutrition intake, WASH, and health is now very important to save children's lives," concluded UNICEF.

DMC Dompet Dhuafa also invites all parties to collaborate to reduce the burden on the survivors of this Pakistani flood and beyond.
