British Muslims Turn Comedy Clubs Into Mosques

jester club to mosqueDDHK News, England - The Muslim community in Bristol, England, is ready to convert the building of a former comedy club, Jesters, into a mosque. The authorities have given permission to convert the building to an Islamic Center which consists of a mosque, community facilities, a cafe and flats.

The plan to transform the building on Cheltenham Road was presented to the city council on behalf of the Assahaba Center in September last year. This plan was criticized by the right-wing political group, the British Defense League (EDL).

The local authorities agreed to the building changes because the community would benefit.

The Jesters club building was empty for nearly two years, after club owner David Trew said his business could no longer operate because it was too expensive. (mel / bristolpost.co.uk/localhost/project/personal/ddhongkong.org/ddhongkong.org) .*
