House Tiles Have Animal Pictures, What's the Rule?

Assalamualaikum. Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

If the house on the tile has decorations such as birds or other animals, what is the ruling?

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Wassalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarokaatuh.

Bismillah… Islam is a beautiful religion and loves beauty. However, all must be in line with the rules justified by Allah and His Messenger. One of the creative arts created by humans since ancient times until now is drawing or making forms of creatures that are similar or the same as the original, or called timtsal.

Scholars agree that the law of images (shurah) and or in physical form (mujassam) or statues of living beings is haram. The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said:

لا ل الملائكة ا لب (متفق ليه)

اية “صورة اثيل”

"Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog and a picture." (Narrated by Bukhari Muslim)

In another narration: "image or statue similar to the original".

However, some are allowed. Among them:

  1. Animated images found on debased objects, such as rags, foot mats, and so on;
  2. animate images resulting from photography, as long as they are not worshiped by infidels or which can cause lust;
  3. A statue of a living creature but severed head;
  4. Children's dolls or toys;
  5. Images or statues used for studying are like the human body in medical science.

As for the decoration of the kerpus or house tiles in the form of living creatures such as birds, dragons, or other animals that are alive and in full form, the law is considered haram. Moreover, placed above the house.

My advice, don't make these decorations in our homes so that we are safe and our homes are entered by angels, especially angels who carry grace.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
