Stealing Time for Worship and Study

DDHK.ORG - Stealing Time for Worship and Study

Peace, mercy and blessings of God

Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

  1. What is the ruling on stealing time or opportunities, for example in studying or worshiping?
  2. How is it legal to cook for the holidays, buy the ingredients yourself, then look for time opportunities. If there is an employer, it doesn't feel good to do something for ourselves. But before asking the employer, he said he could cook for the holidays.

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings be upon you

Worship is our obligation as Muslims. As Allah Ta'ala says:

ا لَقْتُ لْجِنَّ لْإِنسَ لَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except that they might serve Me."

So worshiping Allah is something that is certain in Islam. And our determination as servants is to carry out His commands. As for learning the knowledge of Syara', which is related to fardhu 'ain, it is also obligatory for us to study it. Like learning about how to pray and read the Qur'an.

The problem that applies so that stealing time for prayer and study is not against the Shari'ah, because it is ta'abudi (a form of servitude to Allah). However, it is better for the sisters of Indonesian migrant workers, when they are going to continue their work contracts, it is better if they ask for time to be allowed to pray, just pray fardhunya. For example, ask for 10 minutes when the prayer time has arrived.

Hopefully with our sincerity in worshiping Allah, the host's heart will be opened to make it easier for us to worship Him.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
