Yusuf Islam Holds Concert in Doha Qatar

Long-time converted British pop singer Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) will appear live at a concert for the first time in the Middle East on February 16 at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, Doha, Qatar. The concert, starting at 8pm, will feature an extensive catalog of music hits by Yusuf Islam.

Yusuf Islam was born in London. His father is of Greek Cypriot origin and Swedish mother. Officially known as Cat Stevens, he was one of the greatest solo artists of the 60s and 70s, selling more than 60 albums with hits including, Father and Son, Wild World, Peace Train, and many more.

After suffering a serious illness and after an incident that nearly drowned him, he received a translation Alquran and converted to Islam in 1977. After converting to Islam, he found universal peace and understanding.

He withdrew from the music industry at the peak of his career and changed his name to Yusuf Islam to start a new life.

After converting to Islam, he was active in the world of da'wah, humanitarian organizations, and was an enthusiastic supporter of Islamic Education in England after the birth of his first child.
