Ruling on Treatment with Something Haram

DDHK.ORG - The majority of scholars forbid treatment with khamr and something that is forbidden. As a basis are the following hadiths:

Imam Muslim and Abu Daud narrated from Wail bin Hajar al Hadhrami, that Tariq bin Suwaid once asked the Messenger of Allah about wine made for medicine. Then the Messenger of Allah said, "Indeed, alcohol is not a medicine, but it is a disease."

From this hadith, it can be understood that treatment with something that is haram is not permitted in the Shari'a, and the Messenger of Allah stated that something that is haram that is used as a medicine is basically a disease.

Imam Bukhari narrated and this narration was declared authentic by Ibn Hibban, from Umm Salamah that the Messenger of Allah said, "Verily Allah does not make your healing from something that has been forbidden to you." Imam Bukhari also narrated this hadith from Ibn Mas'ud.

Abu Dawud narrated from Abu Darda' that the Messenger of Allah said, "Verily Allah sends down disease and medicine. Allah made a cure for every disease. For that, seek treatment and do not seek treatment with anything unlawful.”

In the hadith of the hadith there is Ismail bin Iyas. He is a person who is tsiqah (trustworthy) according to the people of Sham, but weak in the view of the people of Hijaz.

Imam Ahmad, Muslim, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah narrated from Abu Hurairah ra. He said, The Messenger of Allah forbade his people to seek treatment with something bad. It means poison.

In the interpretation of al Mannar, Sayyid Rashid Rida explains that a mixture of a few drops is invisible, and it will not cause drunkenness if it is mixed with medicine, so this kind of thing is not haram. Because this kind of thing is like silk (a little) which is mixed in the material of clothes. [Taken from the book of Fiqh Sunnah, by Sayyid Sabiq] [DDHKNews]
