Rocked by COVID-19, Macau confirms 49 new cases

DDHK.ORG - Since being rocked by COVID-19 at the end of last week, until Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Macau has confirmed 49 new cases. This was conveyed by an official of the Macau Coronavirus Novel Coordination and Response Center at a press conference on Tuesday, as reported by TDM Canal Macau.

"The Macau authorities confirm that 15 people have symptoms and another 34 are asymptomatic," Macau's TDM Canal reported, citing a statement by the Macau authorities.

Currently, positive cases are divided into 2 groups. One of them is related to the workplace, with a total of 28 people, and 19 people involving prison staff and their family members. Through epidemiological investigations, a total of 2.142 people were followed up, including 304 close contacts, 1.229 travel partners, 164 secondary contacts, and other general contacts, as well as accompanying persons.

In addition, universal filtering has been completed. In total, 677.000 people have been sampled and 564.000 have been found negative so far, accounting for 83,3% of the total number of people sampled.

Regarding the mass test, it was stated that the final results would be announced at midnight Wednesday. Rapid antigen testing is planned for the entire population in Macau. Further details will be provided by local authorities soon. [DDHKNews]
