When Praying Remember that there are unclean items in your pocket

Assalamualaikum.

Chaplain, I want to ask.

If we are praying, suddenly remember that there is something dirty or unclean in our pocket, what should be done? Do you continue to pray, or what? Incidentally, at that time, he was praying in congregation.

Salam,

Fulanah

ANSWER:

Wa'alaikumussalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

The sacredness of najis is a part of the validity of prayers performed by a Muslim. So it is better if before praying, one should first examine whether the clothes, body, and place where the prayer is made is really clean from unclean or if there is still uncleanness. Because this greatly affects the validity of the prayers performed.

If the uncleanness is in the part that can be removed, for example the cap or turban, then the cap or turban can be removed while the prayer is still continuing. However, if the dirt gets on the clothes that must be thrown away, and the clothes have to be changed, you can break the prayer to change your clothes, and repeat the prayer. Because, according to the jumhur of scholars, purity from najis is a valid prerequisite for prayer.

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.

Regards!
