Istihadlah is a condition where blood comes out continuously from a woman's genitals, beyond and beyond the normal menstrual period and not because of childbirth or childbirth.
Menstruation for a woman is generally at least a day and a night or 24 hours. While the maximum is 15 days.
If the blood that comes out is less than a day and a night or more than 15 days, then that is what is called istihadhah.
Istihad blood is not the same color as menstrual blood. Menstrual blood is usually black in color, thick, smells bad. Meanwhile, the blood of istihad is red in color like most blood.
عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُسْتَحَاضُ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلْتَحَاسى الله ِذَا كَانَ دَمُ الْحَيْضِ – فَإِنَّهُ دَمٌ أَسْوَدُ يُعْرَفُ – فَأَمْسِكِي عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ وَإإِذَا كَانَ ئِي فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عِرْقٌ." (رواه أبو داود والنسائي)
“From Fatima bint Abu Hubaisy, that she was experiencing istihad, the Prophet sallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam said to her: “If it is menstrual blood, of course it is black blood which can be easily recognized, if it is like that then leave the prayer. And if the blood is of a color other than that, then immediately ablution (after bathing) then pray because it is diseased blood." (Reported by Abu Dawud & Nasa'i)
Women who experience istihadlah are referred to as mustahadlah. This type of woman needs to be punished if before suffering istihad she is a woman who is mu'tadah (accustomed to having her menstruation at regular times and knows her usual menstrual days), then she misses the prayer on the day of her usual menstruation, after that she has to immediately take a bath, pray, fast , and may be fucked by her husband.
عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ تَعْنِي أَنَّ امْرَأَةً كَانَتْ تُهَرَاقُ الدَّمَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاسْتَفْتَتْ لَهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِتَنْظُرْ عَدَدَ اللَّيَالِي وَالْأَيَّامِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَحِيضُ مِنْ الشَّهْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصِيبَهَا الَّذِي أَصَابَهَا فَلْتَتْرُكْ الصَّلَاةَ قَدْرَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ الشَّهْرِ فَإِذَا خَلَّفَتْ ذَلِكَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ ثُمَّ لِتَسْتَثْفِرْ ثُمَّ لِتُصَلِّي (رواه أبو داود والنسائي)
“From [Ummu Salamah] -he meant- there was a woman who was bleeding at the time of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam, then she (Um Salamah) asked the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam for a fatwa? He said, "You should count the nights and days (schedule) that you usually menstruate every month. As long as you are still on your usual day of menstruation every month, then leave the size of that night/day in every month. When that's done, then take a shower, then put the cloth on the menstrual area, and pray." (Reported by Abu Dawud & Nasa'i)
Then what is the procedure for praying for mustahad women?
There are six things to pay attention to, namely:
1. Washing his genitals before praying.
2. Women istihadhah must gag or cover their genitals with cotton, or something like that when they want to pray.
3. Bandaging his genitals. This third obligation is carried out after plugging and closing it. It's just that, according to Imam Ar-Ramli, if bandaging can prevent bleeding, then it is considered sufficient without having to clog it.
4. Ablution after the entry of prayer time.
5. Must hurry without pause with a long time between the first to the fifth obligation.
6. Must perform ablution in every obligatory prayer. He cannot use one ablution for the two obligatory prayers.
