DDHK News - The Jangpura region, near Nizamuddin in southeast Delhi, almost turned into a mini battlefield Wednesday (12/1). Riot police fired tear gas and batons to disperse a mass of demonstrators protesting the destruction of a mosque built on government land.

According to the Deputy Director of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Mangej Singh, the building where Muslims were built was illegally built on DDA land and demolished with the approval of a committee.
“The slums and buildings were built on DDA land. We have cleared the slum before, but didn't touch the mosque because we needed permission from the committee, "Singh said.
A source said the demolition was carried out after a notification was issued for the DDA by the Delhi High Court.
At least 15 people were injured when police dispersed the protesters. Thirty others are said to have suffered minor injuries. Disassembly was completed in three hours.
