Egypt's Al-Azhar Sheikh, Imam Ahmad Thayib, welcomed the arrival of the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniya, at his office in Cairo, Tuesday (10/1). The second meeting discussed several things, including the issue of Al-Quds, the Judaization project of the city of Al-Quds, and the Aqsa Mosque.
The meeting culminated with an agreement between Haniya and Thayib to organize an Islamic world conference in Cairo to discuss the issue of Al-Quds and face the Israeli threat. An activity agenda has begun to be designed but the time has not been determined until now.
The meeting also discussed the issue of Palestinian reconciliation. Haniya emphasized to Sheikh Al-Azhar that they are serious about realizing reconciliation and will not sacrifice the rights of Palestine and its constitution.
After the meeting, the Palestinian PM's political advisor, Dr. Yusuf Rizqah held a press conference with Sheikh Al-Azhar's political advisor, Hasan Syafi'i, both of whom conveyed what Haniya and Thayib discussed. It is stated that the attitude of Sheikh Al-Azhar supports resistance as a right for every Palestinian faction, and the only way to liberate the country.
Rizqah emphasized that the meeting between Haniya and Sheikh Al-Azhar was positive and warm. The Palestinian PM places Sheikh Al-Azhar as a priority party to monitor the Palestinian issue, especially the Al-Quds issue and the calamities it has experienced, in the form of judgments by Israel, the Maghoribah gate and the process of its destruction.
Rizqah said that the Palestinian PM emphasized the importance of Al-Azhar in monitoring the issue of Al-Quds, and Sheikh Al-Azhar immediately took the initiative to propose an international conference to defend Al-Quds, which will be held in Cairo which will be attended by Arab and international parties, but until now the time has not been determined.
Haniya arrived in Cairo on Monday afternoon (9/1) returning from Tunisia and was greeted by a number of popular delegations carrying Palestinian flags and banners affirming the solidarity of Palestinian-Egyptian relations. (Mel / Palestinian Info). *
