Burned Mosque, Swedish Citizens Support Muslims

LOVE BOMBDDHK News, Sweden - The citizens of Sweden expressed their solidarity with the Muslims, whose places of worship have been attacked this week.

In the city of Uppsala, where anti-Muslim rhetoric was scrawled onto mosque walls on Thursday, hundreds of people pasted red heart-shaped paper and messages of support at the building's entrance ahead of Friday prayers.

The day before the so-called "love bomb" police said Molotov cocktails were thrown at the mosque but did not cause the fire.

Earlier this week, a mosque in Eslöv in the south, was damaged by a fire that police suspected was set on fire.

On Christmas Day (25/12), five people were injured when a petrol bomb was thrown through a window into the mosque in Eskilstuna, east of the capital Stockholm.

Police chief Mats Lofving told Swedish Radio police took three steps after the attack: increased security monitoring of mosques, increased dialogue with Muslim communities, and priority investigation of attacks on mosques in collaboration with state intelligence agencies.

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven led the criticism of the latest attacks on mosques.

"In Sweden nobody should be afraid when they practice their religion," he told the TT news agency, and said the government would increase funding to secure places of worship.

The attacks on mosques in Sweden come at a time of heated debate over immigration and the integration of asylum seekers who are predominantly Muslim. Sweden is expected to receive more than 100.000 asylum seekers this year, breaking all previous records. (aljazeera.net/mirajnews.com). *
