Israel has gone too far

The world responded to Israel's brutal action of shooting Palestinian refugees while queuing for food in the Gaza Strip on Thursday (29/2/2024). It was reported that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) immediately held a closed meeting on the same day at the UN headquarters in New York. Diplomatic sources, as reported by AFP, said that the closed meeting was requested by Algeria.

Responding to Israel's atrocities, Colombian President Gustavo Petro decided to stop purchasing weapons from the Zionist country. This was conveyed even though Israel has been one of the main providers of weapons for the security forces of the South American country involved in decades of conflict, including against the drug cartel.

As reported by AFP, Petro invited the world to work together to block Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Was asking for food, and more than 100 Palestinians were killed by Netanyahu. This is genocide and reminiscent of the Holocaust. The world must block Netanyahu. Colombia suspends all arms purchases from Israel," wrote Petro on X or Twitter.

Colombia's military and police have for decades used Israeli rifles, pistols and missiles. Colombia's air force has about 20 Kfir fighters, and the country has the rights to produce Galil automatic rifles and Spike missiles under Israeli patents.

In October 2023, days after the war began, Israel declared it would “halt security exports” to Colombia. This was conveyed because they thought that Petro accused Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of using sentences for the people in Gaza that were similar to what the “Nazis said about the Jews. “Petro, Colombia's first left-wing President, also emphasized that “a democratic society cannot allow Nazism to return to power in international politics.”

A number of Arab countries and the international community also reportedly criticized Israel. UN aid chief Martin Griffiths said he was shocked by reports of killings and injuries to hundreds of people.

“Even after five months of mass hostilities, Gaza still surprises us. "Life is being drained away in Gaza at a terrifying rate," said Griffiths, quoted by Al Jazeera, Friday (1/3/2024).

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israeli troops' shooting at Gaza residents. They also said that Israel had violated international law.

“[Saudi] rejects violations of international law from any party and under any circumstances,” said the official release from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Saudi Arabia also urged the international community to force Israel to open a safe humanitarian corridor to Gaza.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry also issued a condemnation. "We condemn the inhumane actions carried out by Israel against unarmed Palestinian civilians at the Nabulsi roundabout in northern Gaza," said a release from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Egypt considers targeting civilians seeking aid a shameful crime. “And is a flagrant violation of international law,” they continued.

Jordan's Foreign Ministry also issued a condemnation of Israel's actions. "We condemn the brutal actions of the Israeli occupation forces targeting Palestinians gathered waiting for aid," Jordan said in a statement.

Singapore, which is one of Israel's friendly countries, is also starting to get annoyed with the aggression of Zionist troops in Palestine. Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan expressed his views on Israel's actions in Palestine during a parliamentary meeting on Thursday (29/2/2024).

Vivian said Singapore recognized Israel's right to defend itself, not because it took sides. Vivian admitted that Israel's military operation into the Gaza Strip under the pretext of defending itself from Hamas attacks had gone too far.
