Provisions for Prospective Preachers (1): Must be sincere and clever in rhetoric

CAUSEWAY BAY | HONG KONG - Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK) organized the Daiyah Ulil Albab School program. The activity in the form of a short course to learn to become a preacher was held for three months, February to April 2019, at the DDHK office on Haven Street, Causeway Bay.

We will present a continuous article containing a summary of the material presented by the speakers at the Daiyah School event, with the theme "Provisions for Prospective Preachers". May be useful!

On Sunday (3/3/2019), dozens of Daiyah School participants received knowledge from Ustadz Donny Meilano, an academic from the Raden Fatah State Islamic University, Palembang. This man who is active in various da'wah organizations and social activities presented the theme of Da'wah Management and Rhetoric.

"A preacher and preacher must have basic knowledge related to da'wah management," he said.

With managerial skills, a preacher can map the da'wah area and the real conditions of his audience, namely the community who is the object of his preaching in the field. "For this reason, a preacher or preacher must have criteria related to dakwah management," said Ustadz Donny.

First, be sincere. Sincerity in preaching very much determines whether or not the advice and messages are conveyed to the audience.

Second, must be knowledgeable. Insights and knowledge are absolutely possessed by a preacher to guide the audience to the right path and carry out religious orders that they do not know so far.

Third, they must master the terrain, the field, and the profile of the audience that becomes the object of preaching. Without mastering the field and field, preachers will have difficulty conveying da'wah material to listeners properly.

"The preacher must always be ready. It is forbidden to choose a place that is easily accessible and leave the da'wah field that is considered uncomfortable. Do not count with Allah, Allah will not count with us, "said the ustadz who is a member of the Indonesian Association of Dai Indonesia.

Fourth, must have good rhetoric skills. With good rhetoric, and with clear, straightforward and easy-to-understand language, preachers can make the audience feel comfortable and accept what is being said.

"That's where the ability of a preacher is tested, because the essence of a preacher is to invite goodness and truth. Methods and management issues can be studied, ”he said.

The participants of the DDHK Daiyah Ulil Albab School enthusiastically welcomed the material presented by Ustadz Donny. This can be seen during the question-and-answer session which was greeted by the participants' hands to ask questions. [AR / Ida Royani]
