OKI Takes Legal Action Against Charlie Hebdo Magazine

DDHK News, Saudi Arabia - The OIC (Organization for Islamic Cooperation) plans to take legal action against Charlie Hebdo magazine, following the publication of a cartoon insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

The Secretary General of the OIC, Iyad Madani, was quoted as saying the steps by the organization of Muslim-majority countries in the world Arab News, Sunday (18/01/2015).

“The OIC is studying European and French law and other procedures to be able to take legal action against Charlie Hebdo. If French law allows us to take legal proceedings against Charlie Hebdo, the OIC will not hesitate to sue the French magazine, "he said.

"This (publication by Charlie Hebdo) is a foolish act, and should be subject to legal action," Madani said on his Twitter account, condemning the publication of anti-Islamic cartoons.

"Cartoons like these have hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world," said Madani.

“Freedom of speech should not be an expression of hatred and should not offend other parties. No sane person - regardless of religion or belief - accepts his teachings being ridiculed, "he added. (hidayatullah.com/arabnews.com). *
