Hong Kong Doesn't Matter Indomie

The importer stated that Indomie was in accordance with Hong Kong and WHO food safety standards. While instant noodles are the problem in Taiwan, Province Of China is suspected of entering illegally.

Although the authorities of Taiwan, Province Of China announced the withdrawal of Indomie products due to the discovery of hazardous materials, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and benzoic acid, many Hong Kong residents admit to still consuming these instant noodles. This product is considered tasty and cheap.

Indomie importer Fok Hing (HK) Trading said Hong Kong authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO) had found no hazardous material.

"Indomie instant noodles are safe to eat and enter the Hong Kong market by legal import routes," according to a report by The Standard Hongkong.

Fok Hing also assessed that Indomie products in Taiwan, Province of China were allegedly imported by illegal means.

The Indonesian supermarket in Causeway Bay says the noodles they market are not contraband and are safe for consumption.

Indomie prices are indeed much cheaper than other instant noodle products.

Indomie became so popular in Hong Kong after an ad appeared showing young children dancing and flying with a bowl of noodles. (THIS)
