Concealed and Sedentary Prayers, Is It Legal?

DDHK. ORG – Prayers in secret and outspoken, is it legal?

Assalamualaikum Warohmatullah.

chaplain, I want to ask. What is prayer mandatory what i've been doing all this time shah or not?

Here's the chronology. I work in HK with an employer of a different religion, the employer doesn't allow me to pray. But I steal time at night, every time I finish work, before going to bed I make up all the times, namely zuhur/asr, maghrib/isa. Unless dawn can pray on time.

My position is sitting with my legs stretched out on the bed, I can't stand because at the top of my bed there is a child's wardrobe.

If you pray elsewhere, you are afraid that your employer will see you and you will be angry. Is it permissible for me to do this worship every day, is it legal?

Please explain Ustadz. Thank you

Wassalamualaikum Warrohmatullah
Greetings, Fulanah

My dear sister, God bless you. Among the commands of Allah that we must guard and is the most important bodily practice is prayer. Even the barometer of whether or not our practice is good is prayer itself.

From Anas bin Malik radliyãllahu 'anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said:

اَوَّلُ ا اسَبُ الْعَبْدُ الْقِيَامَةِ الصَّلاَةُ اِنْ لَحَتْ لَحَ ائِرُ لِهِ اِنْ ائِرُ لِهِ (رواه الطبراني)

"The first thing that will be judged against a servant on the Day of Judgment is prayer, if the prayer is good then all the deeds will be good, and if the prayer is broken then all the deeds will be corrupted." (HR Ath-Thobrani)

Among the ways to improve prayer is to keep the time, namely by doing it at the beginning of time. Even prayer is worship that has been determined by Allah Subhanahu wata'ala.

الصَّلَاةَ انَتْ لَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ابًا ا

"Indeed, prayer is an obligation for the believer whose time has been set." (Surat an-Nisa': 103)

But sometimes the work done takes up a lot of time, resulting in a person not being able to pray at the beginning of time. Or even to spend prayer time that he should be able to use to do it.

Then what if someone is too busy or difficult to get permission and or loose time to pray in the middle of his work? Is it permissible for him to make up some or all of his prayers?

Actually there is rukhshah (relief) for people who face the above problems. Rukhshah is to make plural prayers that can be plural, such as dhuhur with asr or maghrib with isha'.
The rule of plural prayer is due to a specific intention or condition, such as traveling 16 farsakh (84 km), or due to heavy rain, or illness (according to Malikiyah scholars), or also because of certain jobs on condition that it is not always (sometimes only). But if it is made a habit, then it is prohibited in religion.

The rules for making qadla only apply to people who fall asleep or completely forget to do it.

From Anas bin Malik radliyãllahu 'anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said:

لَاةً، نَامَ ا، ارَتُهَا يُصَلِّيَهَا ا ا (متفق ليه)

"Whoever forgets to pray or falls asleep (so that the time for prayer is missed) then his redemption is that he immediately prays when he remembers." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).

Then among the pillars of fardlu prayer is standing up for those who can afford it. If you do it while sitting or in other positions other than standing when you can, then it is not valid. But if the condition is not possible or emergency, then it is allowed.

Then if the employer doesn't allow it, then my suggestion is to discuss it with him about the mother's obligations as a Muslim woman. Hopefully he can understand and tolerate.

But if you still don't allow it, then the mother can study for permission from the employer in order to steal time so that she can pray at her time.

Don't forget to always ask Allah to make it easy and a way out of the problems that you are facing.

Amen O 'Lord of the Worlds.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
