Gift Coupon Laws of Remittance Apps

Gift Coupon Laws of Remittance Apps

Peace, mercy and blessings of God

Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

I have a money transfer app. For every money transfer transaction, there is a gift coupon. Sometimes HK$15 to HK$30s. If the coupon is taken, does the law include usury?

Thank you, Ustadz.

Greetings, Fulanah

ANSWER:

ليكم السلام الله ات

Bismillah… As we know that the majority of banks, especially conventional ones, carry out usury transactions in them. So, a Muslim must stay away from it.

However, it is permissible if we use it only to transfer money through it due to circumstances that require this method because in the global world it is very difficult to avoid absolute connection. Sheikh Utsaimin gave a fatwa regarding the permissibility of making transfers through conventional banks. However, it is taken immediately and does not settle for too long. Because the money that settles will definitely be used for the bank's operations.

So, if there is a cash prize coupon for transferring money from a bank, then it is unlawful to take it.

Hope it works!

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.
