Jakarta floods: Dompet Dhuafa Open Public Kitchen

One of the areas that has had a severe impact on flooding is the Rawa Buaya area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

About 250 residents have now started to flee to safe places, either going to relatives' homes or taking refuge in refugee posts. The height of the puddles began to vary, from 20 cm to 60 cm.

Responding to natural disasters that are happening, Dompet Dhuafa through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) has fielded a team of humanitarian volunteers.

Since Monday (10/2), the team of humanitarian volunteers Dompet Dhuafa synergize with a joint volunteer team, including the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and local volunteers who are directly involved in helping evacuate residents who are still at home.

"Today our team is continuing to evacuate residents in the crocodile and rubber swamp areas. In addition, we will continue to monitor what assistance the residents need, "said the Director of the DMC Dompet Dhuafa, Asep Beny.

Asep said, apart from helping the evacuation process of residents, the volunteer team also established a public kitchen post in the Rawa Buaya area. Every day, the Public Kitchen provides food for the 250 people who fled.

So far, the DMC post Dompet Dhuafa has been on standby in four areas of the capital to respond to floods that hit Jakarta at any time. The four areas are Rawa Buaya (West Jakarta), Cawang (East Jakarta), Tebet (South Jakarta), Kampung Pulo (East Jakarta).

Apart from the Public Kitchen, since last Monday (9/2) Dompet Dhuafa has provided assistance in the form of basic necessities for public kitchens such as rice, mineral water and instant noodles. (Dompetdhuafa.org). *
