DOMPET Dhuafa Hong Kong (DDHK), on Sunday (2/8/2020), provided health funding assistance to Pujiati, a former Hong Kong Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) from Kediri, East Java. This woman who is better known as Puput is suffering from stage 4 breast cancer which really needs help to undergo routine treatment in the country.
Information about Pujiati was known by DDHK from Suhartini, a Hong Kong PMI who was also from Kediri, who came to DDHK's office in Causeway Bay, asking for assistance for Pujiati. "Yes, I know Mrs. Suhartini. she is a friend of my mother in Hong Kong and her house is not far from my house, ”said Alya Atika Sari, daughter of Pujiati, who was contacted by Iffah, a member of the DDHK volunteer team.
Alya said, his mother still had to undergo chemotherapy every week. In the beginning, said Alya, in mid-2014 her mother who was working in Hong Kong was convicted of breast cancer.
Then, Pujiati returned to Indonesia and underwent a re-examination. "In fact, it is known that the mother's cancer is already in stage 4," said Alya.
"In 2015, the mother underwent breast surgery. At that time he was physically strong after the operation, "he said.
In 2017, Pujiati returned to work in Hong Kong. Apparently, his physique did not support him to work anymore. So in 2018, he returned to Indonesia and repeated the treatment process.
Because, there is another lump in the breast that has been operated on. "After doing the examination, it turned out that the cancer had spread to the bone," said Alya.
During the videocall, Pujiati took off her headscarf and showed Iffah that her head was no longer hairy, as a result of her chemotherapy.
HUSBAND DIED THE WORLD
The ordeal of the life of Pujiati and her family is not only about her illness which is quite severe. In 2020, Pujiati's husband died while waiting for her, who was undergoing treatment and chemotherapy at the hospital.
“All my father's life has only had high blood pressure. From the very beginning my mother had cancer, my father took care of it. My brother and I only helped, ”said Alya.
In January 2020, the husband was convicted of coronary heart disease, and had to undergo routine examinations to the doctor. "Last July, my mother's bone pain recurred. My father persuaded him to be hospitalized. Coincidentally, the chemotherapy date was approaching. After Maghrib on July 11, my brother and I took my mother to the hospital. 21:00 to get a room, "said Alya.
The husband and eldest son Pujiati returned home. Alya, who is staying at the hospital, is waiting for her mother.
The next day, her husband replaced Alya, waiting for Pujiati. "At 08:00 am, when my mother called my brother with a trembling voice, I heard my mother's voice screaming for help, because suddenly my father fell unconscious. My sister and I immediately went to the hospital. Once arrived, my father was already in the emergency room. Only 5 minutes I was in the emergency room, when I was checked, my father's heart was not beating anymore, ”said Alya.
