Fire Hotel in Medina, 15 Umrah pilgrims died

DDHK News, Saudi Arabia - Fifteen people were killed and around 130 injured when a fire broke out in a hotel occupied by Umrah pilgrims in the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia, Sunday (9/2).

According to news reported by the Saudi Arabian news agency, all the pilgrims who died came from Egypt. Regarding the cause of the fire, according to the Egyptian state television station, it was due to a short circuit.

Rescuers took more than two hours to put out the fire. Residents of a nearby hotel were also evacuated as a precaution.

About 700 worshipers were staying at the hotel at the time of the fire. The Saudi Arabian authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
