Everyone wants an income or salary that can meet the needs of himself and his family. People who think their pay is low want a large salary. However, even when we already have a large salary, sometimes we can't manage it properly.

Let's say Indonesian Migrant Workers who work in Hong Kong, they come all the way to Hong Kong to work, of course with the aim of increasing income and changing the standard of life of their families back home.

The salary they receive is quite large for their size in Indonesia. On average they earn around HK $ 4,500 or the equivalent of more than Rp. 8.000.000. This figure is more than sufficient for life in his hometown.

However, we still find many migrant workers who have financial problems such as debt, being deceived, money running out of unclear direction, no savings, participating in fraudulent investments, being spent by their families at home, and other financial problems.

Therefore, Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong also actively campaigning for financial planning training conducted by Enrich, an NGO (Non Government Organization) in Hong Kong who is concerned with providing training and financial assistance to migrants in Hong Kong.

What is Enrich?

Enrich is an Institute in Hong Kong that promotes personal and economic development for migrant workers.

Enrich can help migrant workers save, manage finances, and plan for the future through financial education and personal development programs.

What are the types of training?

There are three main training areas provided, including financial programs, self-empowerment programs, and additional programs.

  1. Finance Program

In the financial program, there are 3 types of training, including:

Managing Money Wisely (4 hours)

Namely an introduction to personal finance, especially designed for migrant workers. In addition, participants are taught how to make a budget, plan expenses, set goals, and manage finances wisely.

Increase Savings (8 hours)

That is learning the basic concepts, tools, and investment instruments. After saving, then how to develop the money? How do investment products work and how do you manage your assets? How to avoid investment fraud? In this material we will learn about it.

Setting Up Your Own Business (8 hours)

Introducing entrepreneurship to migrant workers planning to start a business. The training covers basic business concepts, marketing methods, financial management, risks, and contingency plans if things don't go well.

  1. Self Empowerment Program

  • Money and Family (4 hours)
  • Introduction to personal finance
  • Managing the balance of family, self, and future needs in financial management
  • Maintain family relationships, educate and reduce guilt even though they are separated by distance and time
  • Dare to Speak (4 hours)
  • The principle of communicating by building self-confidence
  • Study the laws in Hong Kong that protect migrant workers from harassment and discrimination
  • Assisting migrant workers in dealing with pressure from others
  1. Additional Programs

Financial Counseling

Provide free, individual support to migrant workers who are experiencing financial crisis (deep in debt) or who need to make important financial decisions. Don't worry that confidentiality will be guaranteed.

Guidance Session

Guidance for those who have participated in "Managing Finances Wisely". Each person will be paired with a mentor who assesses progress and discusses difficulties encountered in achieving expected financial plans and dreams.

How much does it cost?

The training is subsidized, so participants only pay $ 30 / class or $ 150 for the entire class.
