Ustadz, I want to ask a question.

How can we avoid feeling hurt and resentful towards someone who has wronged us? Are there any tips to keep us away from this feeling?

Thank you, Ustadz. Barakallah.

Greetings, Fulanah

ليكم السلام الله ات

Bismillah… As a Muslim, living life in this world must be full of obstacles and trials. Even the test is a sign that Allah loves us. Among the forms of God's test to us is when we are hurt by other people, such as talking about our ugliness or commonly called backbiting.

Backbiting is an act of wrongdoing (persecution) against others. Even if the perpetrator does not repent and apologize to the person he offended, then the reward of the backbiter will be bestowed on the person backbiting him.

The Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam once told the condition of the muflis (bankrupt) in the hereafter:

أتدرون من المفلس قالوا المفلس فينا من لا درهم له ولا متاع فقال إن المفلس من أمتي من يأتي يوم القيامة بصلاة وصيام وزكاة ويأتي قد شتم هذا وقذف هذا وأكل مال هذا وسفك دم هذا وضرب هذا فيعطى هذا من حسناته وهذا من حسناته فإن فنيت حسناته قبل أن ا لَيْهِ ايَاهُمْ لَيْهِ النَّارِ

"Do you know who the muflis (people who are bankrupt) are?" The friends replied, "Muflis (the bankrupt person) is the one who has neither money nor property." Then the Prophet explained, "Muflis (people who are bankrupt) from my Ummah are, those who come on the Day of Judgment bringing (reward) prayer, fasting and zakat, but (while in this world) he has abused and (wrongly) accused others, eating property, shed blood and beat others (without rights). Then they will be rewarded for their good deeds. When his good deeds have been exhausted, then their sins will be passed on to him, then he will be thrown into hell ". (Hadith narrated by Muslim & Ahmad).

Therefore, if we are insulted by others, then what we have to do is:

  1. We are ordinary human beings who can definitely get angry. So it is patience that can make us noble.
  2. Say: . اللهُ الْوَكِيْلُ، الْمَوْلَى النَّصِيْرُ. Allah is sufficient for me, (He is) the best guardian, the best protector, and the best helper.
  3. Happy because the reward of the person who backstabbed us will be given to us later and or our sins will be bestowed on him.

It was once narrated that a man came to Al-Hasan Al-Basri about someone who insulted him. Then he brought a tray (tray) of wet dates (ruthab) to the backbiter and said: "You have indeed sent me the reward of your kindness, so I want to repay it. But I'm sorry I can't give him what he deserves."

Hope it works!

Wallâhu a'lam bish-showâb.
