Apply for a visa for foreign domestic workers, the employer must bear the cost of the Covid test and hotel quarantine

DDHK.ORG - Department Hong Kong Immigration will apply new arrangements to applications for foreign domestic worker (PRT) visas. These new arrangements will be aligned with Government measures to impose rules on travelers who within 14 days of arriving in Hong Kong visit places considered to be at high risk of contracting the coronavirus.

“Specifications for applying conditions (strict rules) based on public health reasons on tourists who have visited Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines and South Africa within 14 days prior to arrival in Hong Kong. This regulation will come into effect on July 25, "the Hong Kong Government announced through its official website, news.gov.hk, Tuesday (21/7/2020).

Under the new arrangement, employers applying for visas for their foreign domestic workers will be required to sign an agreement to show that they will arrange for COVID-19 testing and hotel quarantine for their foreign domestic workers. They are also held responsible for the relevant costs if their domestic workers arrive on or after 25 July.

If the employer violates the agreement, their foreign domestic workers can be denied entry to Hong Kong and their applications to employ foreign domestic workers in the future may be rejected.

Employers can download the agreement form online or obtain it from the Head Office and Branch Offices of the Immigration Department.

"Call the telephone number 28246111 for inquiries about visa applications for foreign domestic workers or 21579537 for questions about employment rights and benefits," wrote news.gov.hk. [DDHKNews / photo source: Apakabar Online]
