Saudi charities provide 5.000 meals a day at the Grand Mosque

The Saudi Arabian charity, The Ihsan and Takaful Welfare Society (ITWS), provides 5.000 packs of hot food each day at the Grand Mosque for poor Makkah residents, pilgrims and mosque visitors.

"This social work will continue throughout the year," said the Chairman of ITWS, Sulaiman bin Awwad Al-Zaidi, to Arab News. He said the fresh food was packaged hygienically before serving.

"Through this activity, we intend to meet the needs of the poor and the needy, and to free them from begging," he said.

Al-Zaidi asked all levels of society, including businessmen, to participate in the humanitarian activities that began a few days ago. Food is distributed among the poor and needy in various districts of Makkah and among mosque-goers.

She said, The Ihsan And Takaful will be an intermediary between the generous and the poor. "We will remain committed to the poor and needy in the holy city, to always carry out this event," he said.

The supervisor of the charity project, Mubarak bin Awwad Al-Qurashi, said that one pack of food contains rice, chicken, juice, water and a piece of cake served fresh and carefully wrapped in a plastic package.

"For people who want to donate food to the poor, the price per meal is 12 Riyal (around Rp.30.000)," he added. “Food may be distributed among the poor families who are registered with us Aorbit (special houses for the poor), as well as pilgrims to the Grand Mosque and poor people who usually live close to the Grand Mosque. It all depends on the wishes of the donors. "

Al-Qurashi said his association would supervise, follow and assist with the distribution of generous donations that would feed 10.000 packets or more.

The Ihsan And Takaful has a special account at Al-Rajhi Bank for receiving donations and has a special telephone number to answer public inquiries. (Mel / Arabnews.com / ddhongkong.org). *
