The event "National Muslim Prayers for Peace and Security in Nigeria" aims to assist government officials in "addressing the security challenges facing the country".
Sultan Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar III, directly led a prayer ceremony at the National Mosque in Abuja, Sunday (25/5).
Nigeria, the largest country on the African continent, has recently been busy with actions by the Boko Haram group. More than 200 female students are currently being held hostage by Boko Haram. Last month, Boko Haram kidnapped around 300 schoolchildren in the Chibok area of Borno state.
