Washington Muslims To Hold Long March Action to Capitol Building

Hundreds of Washington Muslims in the United States are planning a "long march" at the Capitol to meet lawmakers and urge them to speak out against Islamophobia. "This event will provide an opportunity for Muslims from our majority representative districts to learn more about the political process and to meet with their elected representatives (legislators)," said CAIR Washington Executive Director Arsalan Bukhari.

Arsalan added that legislators must take important actions during this year to allocate funds and provide services and assistance to weak Muslim communities. Action long march planned as part of the annual event, "Washington State Muslim day at the Capitol."

About 400 Muslims are scheduled to meet with dozens of their elected representatives in this event. The plan is that this event will be held on January 16, and this is the largest of its kind.

For legislators, they plan to give souvenirs in the form of copies Al-Quran with English translation.

In the run-up to the US election, the world of politics is heating up again, and inevitably it will attract Islamic phobia. One of the Republican presidential candidates before resigning, Peter King, in a widely published speech warned the US of the dangers of radicalization of the country's Muslims.

Recently, a member of the Missouri Republic of parliament described Islam as a disease like polio. Others call Islam a "colonizer" from the American environment.

A recent report by CAIR and the University of California Berkeley found that Islamophobia in the US is on the rise. A survey in the United States also revealed that the majority of Americans know little about Islam and 43 percent of Americans feel at least “a little” prejudiced against Muslims.
