American Court Orders Google to Remove Anti-Islamic Films

DDHK News, America - A United States federal court ordered Google, which owns Youtube, to remove anti-Islamic films that sparked deadly riots across Muslim countries.

Site Indonesian BBC reports, a decision taken anonymously with a 2-1 result by the United States Court of Appeal granted an actress's request saying she was tricked into appearing in the film.

The film depicts the Prophet Muhammad as "a fraud" and other bad things.

The decision has to do with copyright issues, not with film content, which YouTube says does not violate its standards.

The film entitled Innocence of Muslims sparked violence in several places around the world in 2012. Dozens of people died in the Middle East during protests.

The film is also linked to an attack on a US diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans, including the US ambassador.

YouTube, which is owned by Google, rejected requests to remove the film from its website.

The reason is that only the filmmaker and not the actor has the copyright and authority to withdraw the video.

Actress Cindy Lee Garcia, who starred in the film, sued Google and sued the company to remove the video, arguing that the man behind the filming, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, gave her a script that did not refer to Muslims or the Prophet. (bbc.co.uk). *
