"Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, speak well or (if not) be silent" (Bukhari and Muslim).
"A believer does not accuse, curse, does not say dirty words, and does not criticize" (Tirmidhi).
The characteristics of good speech are that the content is useful, contains wisdom or virtue, makes listeners happy, or does not hurt others or does not make others angry.
Good speech is also characterized by the use of correct, standardized, or appropriate language kadiah (qaulan sadida, QS 4: 9), words that are right on target, communicative, or easy to understand (qaulan baligha, QS 4:63 ), and use words that are polite, gentle, or not harsh and not vulgar (qaulan karima, QS 17:23).
