Truss pocketed 57,4 percent of the vote. While his rival, Rishi Sunak, who is a former British Finance Minister got 42,6 percent of the vote. "Liz Truss won the contest to become the next British Prime Minister," Reuters reported on Monday (3/9/2022), as quoted by CNN Indonesia.

"We're going to give the Conservatives a big win for 2024," Truss said, welcoming his win.

Previously Truss was predicted to be the prime minister to replace Boris Johnson, who stepped down last July. Johnson resigned after being linked to a number of scandals, which later led to the massive resignation of his ministers.
