Serial study towards the Hajj season 2023)

DDHK. ORG – What is ihram? This is one pillar of pilgrimage which is important to understand. Ihram means intending to perform the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage, which is what the executor is called Muhrim or muhrimun.

Ihram comes from the word احرم – يحرم – احراما, which means to forbid. In the context of Hajj and Umrah, ihrām means, الدخول فى الحرمة (entering into the forbidden).

Meanwhile, according to the term, ihrām

This means the intention to enter (perform) the pilgrimage or umroh by forbidding things that are prohibited during the berihram.

Ihram, as an important part of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, is performed from the miqât. A person who is going to Hajj and Umrah, he must know the miqat as a place to enter. Those who do not enter into ihram from the miqât, mean that they have abandoned an obligation in pilgrimage, so it is obligatory for them to replace it with dam (fine).

Before intent on Miqaht, sunnah we bathe, then use ihram cloth, and pray sunnah. Next we intend Hajj / Umrah.

Someone who is practicing ifrad, he says:

لَبَّيْكَ حَجًّا or لَبَّيْكَ الَّلهُمَّ حَجًّا

and one who has tamattu', he says:

لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً or لَبَّيْكَ الَّلهُمّ عُمْرَةً

and when Tarwiyah day (8 Dzulhijah) states:

لَبَّيْكَ حَجًّا or لَبَّيْكَ الَّلهُمّ حَجًّا

As for those who practice qiran, he states:

لَبَّيْكَ عُمْرَةً وَ حَجًّا

That is about ihram during the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. I hope you understand more, friend. [DDHK News]
