Seeking a Livelihood Also Includes Jihad in the Way of Allah

workJIHAD Fi Sabilillah (fighting in the way of Allah) is not only fighting for Islam and Muslims. Working for a living also includes jihad in the way of Allah SWT.

Imam Hasan al-Basri rahimahullah said, "In fact there could be someone who always jihad even though he never cut a sword - on the battlefield - one day." (See Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Azhim [6/264] cet. Dar Thaibah).

Ath-Thasieni narrated from Abu Hurairah who said, “When we (the companions) were sitting beside the Prophet, suddenly a young man came out of the hill road. When we paid attention to him, we said, "If only this young man used his strength and youth for jihad in the way of Allah!"

Hearing the words of these friends, the Prophet Muhammad said: "Is it true that jihad in the way of Allah is only the one who is killed (in war)? Whoever works to support his parents, then he is in the way of Allah, whoever works to support his family is in the way of Allah, but whoever works to make extravagant (increase his wealth) is on the way of taghut. " (HR Thabrani, Al-Mu'jam Al-Ausath).

The hadith which was also narrated by Al-Bazzar and Al-Baihaqi emphasized that working for a living is also an obligation in Islam and is classified as jihad in the way of Allah.

Other editors of this hadith mean: "Whoever works to support himself so that he is honorable (not begging) is in the way of Allah, and whoever works to increase his wealth is on the path of Satan."
With this hadith, Rasulullah Saw emphasized that working for a living also includes jihad in the path of Allah.

Of course this Rasul's statement does not necessarily deny or denigrate jihad in the sense of war (qital). In the Islamic Treatise, all types of jihad are noble, whether they are earning a living, fighting against the enemies of Islam and Muslims, spreading the truth of Islam, or other types of jihad. Allah knows best bish-shawabi. (Islamic treatise). *
