Dompet Dhuafa Republika, more often called Dompet Dhuafa growing and growing. No one thought that the amil zakat institution was as big as it is now. Even the four founders; Parni Hadi, Erie Sudewo, Sinansari Ecip and Haidar Bagir also admitted.
Dompet Dhuafa born started as a coincidence. However, we believe it is not just a coincidence but a scenario of Allah. The promotion of the April 1993 Republika newspaper in Jogja was a momentum to give birth Dompet Dhuafa.
During the promotion, one of the founders, Parni Hadi, met a group of young people who preached and carried out social activities at the foot of Gunung Kidul.
Joined the Da'wah Corps (CDP) under the leadership of Ustadz Umar Sanusi and fostered by the late Ustadz Jalal Mukhsin's missionary activist. Their activity base is the poor area of Gunung Kidul.
The people of Gunung Kidul at that time faced hunger caused by prolonged drought. CDP members function all-round: yes teachers, preachers and social activists at the same time. At that time they were only paid Rp. 6.000 per month. Funds for their activities come from student donations from various campuses. Seeing that condition then Dompet Dhuafa initiated. This history will never be forgotten.
The largest in Indonesia
Time keeps running. Not felt past two decades. Professionalism and public trust that makes it Dompet Dhuafa become the largest amil zakat institution in Indonesia. This condition does not necessarily make us the next generation in Dompet Dhuafa complacent. The struggle in front of his eyes was getting bigger. The challenges are getting sharper. Along with the development of philanthropy both nationally and internationally.
In the Press Conference Public Expose agenda Dompet Dhuafa in Jakarta on Wednesday (24/12) the progress was announced Dompet Dhuafa. 21 years of work Dompet Dhuafa (1993-2014) beneficiaries of all programs were 11.300. 859 people. Distributed in the economic program as many as 9.776.296 people, health 800.149 people, education 97.498 people and social development as many as 629.916 people.
Headquartered in Indonesia with branches and representatives in 22 provinces, Dompet Dhuafa also has official branches in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia and the United States.
In addition to the distribution of beneficiaries in Indonesia and official branches abroad, Dompet Dhuafa also actively involved in responding to international humanitarian issues in Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, the United States, the Philippines, Palestine, Timor Leste, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Egypt, the Netherlands, China, Malaysia, New Zealand, Macau, Somalia and Papua New Guinea.
The period of the last four years (2011-2014) Dompet Dhuafa has raised funds amounting to Rp. 802.245.565.566, -. A little closer to IDR 1 trillion. The funds come from zakat, donations, alms, waqf, social humanity and corporate CSR.
2014 this Dompet Dhuafa raised funds amounting to Rp195.747.776.914. This amount is a count per October, November and December will be released again at the beginning of the year. This figure shows a graph of the increase in annual fund raising in the range of 10-15 percent.
In terms of utilization Dompet Dhuafa prioritizing four pillars of empowerment including the fields of health, economy, education and social development. By prioritizing these four pillars, the distribution of public funds will be maximized, right on target, and will honor the beneficiaries. As of October 2014, the number of beneficiaries reached 1.071.160 people.
The distribution of beneficiaries in the economic sector is 584.064 people (55 percent), the health sector is 205.628 people (19 percent), the education sector is 52.874 people (5 percent), and the social development sector is 228.594 (21 percent). For the distribution of beneficiary areas, it has reached 33 provinces in Indonesia as well as more than 20 countries.
DD Hong Kong: First Overseas Branch
Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong is the first overseas branch Dompet Dhuafa Republika for the East Asia region. Founded in Causeway bay on July 02, 2004 and inaugurated by the HK Consulate General together with Indonesian leaders in HK, Ustad Muhaemin Karim MA at that time.
Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong is the fruit of a synergy between Dompet Dhuafa Republika in Jakarta with organizations, communities and majelis taklim throughout HK as well as Indonesian citizens who have become residents here.
Last four years (2011-2014)Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong was able to raise public funds in the form of zakat, infaq, alms, waqf, social humanity and corporate CSR amounting to $ 12.684.126 from all donors in Hong Kong. With the number of personal donors who have donated more than 2.700 people and 50 organizations and 7 companies.
The funds raised have been well managed to help the poor in Hong Kong, both from BMIs and local Hong Kong people who are spread across 4 islands of this country.
Total beneficiaries Dompet Dhuafa Hong Kong 2011-2014 as many as more than 5.000 people. In terms of distributing public funds, we are not only oriented to the quantity of beneficiaries, but we are very concerned about quality with the target of getting rid of problems and determining the best life choices.
