Transporting 4 Covid-19 Positive Passengers, Hong Kong Bans Garuda Flights from Jakarta for 14 Days

DDHK.ORG - Hong Kong health authorities ban flights Garuda Indonesia from Jakarta following the discovery of 4 passengers who were positive for Covid-19 on a flight last Sunday, June 20, 2021. They previously flew with Garuda Indonesia aircraft GA876.

The four passengers were found to be positive based on test results upon arrival in Hong Kong. From this finding, the Hong Kong authorities immediately imposed a ban on Garuda Indonesia flights from Jakarta for 14 days, from June 22 to July 5.

"The Ministry of Health has banned landing in Hong Kong for passenger flights from Jakarta operated by Garuda Indonesia from today until July 5," the Hong Kong authority announced on its official website, Tuesday (22/6/2021).

According to the Hong Kong Center for Health Protection (CHP) daily announcement from the Ministry of Health (DH), on Tuesday, 22 June, they recorded 7 additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). All new cases reported are imported cases.

A total of 6 of them are prospective domestic workers from Indonesia who have just arrived in Hong Kong. Four of them carried the mutation of the L452R coronavirus strain.

Until June 22, 2021, in the last 14 days Hong Kong recorded 24 new cases of Covid-19. All imported cases, no recorded local transmission.

Related to that, a spokesman for the Hong Kong Government reminded residents of the Concrete Country as much as possible not to travel abroad. “Given that the COVID-19 infection situation remains severe and there is a continuous increase in the number of cases including mutant strains being reported worldwide, members of the public are strongly urged to avoid all non-essential travel outside Hong Kong.
