July 1 Hong Kong Provides Lots of Discounts and Freebies for its Citizens

Hong Kong residents will enjoy a variety of free goods as well as cheaper food and groceries on July 1, 2023. This will coincide with the 26th anniversary of the Land of Concrete's return to China.

“There will be lots of activities in celebration of the anniversary, so everyone can have fun,” said Hong Kong Chief Executive, John Lee, ahead of the weekly Executive Board meeting, on Tuesday (20/6/2023) yesterday, as reported by RTHK.

On July 1, Hong Kongers will be able to enjoy free admission to the M+ Museum and seven exhibits at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, along with most government-run recreational facilities. Most ferry rides will be free on July 1, and passengers will also be able to ride the trams for free for the first five days next month.

Lee added that some local fish and vegetable products will be priced at 71 percent of their original price during the week if purchased through a mobile app. In addition, more than 1.000 restaurants will offer a 29 percent discount on portions of their menu.
