The Islam of Sammamah: The Rich Voracious Prisoner

The call to preach to the Muslims is always inherent in him, whenever and wherever, which is of course in a good way (wisdom), giving good advice not patronizing, and if forced to debate it then in a good way too, as the command in QS. An-Nahl: 125.

Since a Muslim child enters puberty, the command to preach is inherent in him with his Islamic ties. Until parents who are very old, will preach in kindness in a way that they are able to carry out, such as giving advice to their children and grandchildren.

What about us, the younger generation? We need to take a role in conveying kindness and preventing evil from happening, both in the family, society and the country. This is because we want to be part of the lucky people mentioned in QS. Ali Imran: 104.

Akhlak karimah (noble) must be the basis for preaching. Rasulullah SAW also taught that when he met Sammamah, a prisoner of war under the supervision of the Muslims.

Sammamah's attitude and behavior stole the attention of his friends to report him to the Prophet. How come? Sammamah was able to devour the other prisoners 'rations, he could even eat ten portions of the prisoners' rations himself.

So the Prophet asked his friends to bring Sammamah to his house. Rasulullah also told his wife, Ayesha, to prepare a meal because there would be guests.

This is part of the Prophet's morals, how to treat prisoners who grieve the minds of friends. Rasulullah also wanted to prove what his companions reported.

Sammamah entered the Prophet's house and the second time he was confused by the Prophet. The question has not yet been answered why Rasulullah called him to the house without other prisoners and escorts from his companions in the house of the Prophet, why did Rasulullah give him so much and delicious food without demanding anything from him.

It's true what the friends said. The food served was devoured by Sammamah without a trace. In fact, Rasulullah did not have anything left to eat with his family, unless everything had been issued to Sammamah.

The third time Sammamah thought again, because after eating well, the Messenger of Allah released Sammamah. How confused is Sammamah with the attitude of the Prophet Muhammad. "What does this Muhammad bin Abdullah really want?" he muttered.

Islam teaches moral dignity. Noble morals will also produce glory. As Sammamah's behavior changed to be much better than before.

When Sammahah learned that the Quraish of Mecca were hostile to Prophet Muhammad and his followers, Sammamah threatened to boycott the grain to Mecca. So far, the needs of Mecca's wheat are supplied by the Bani Imamah under the leadership of Sammamah.

Sammamah Islam is the fruit of the Prophet's morals to him. The wheat boycott could be lifted if the Messenger of Allah asked him to remove it.

Therefore, the Quraish of Mecca asked the Prophet Muhammad to lift the boycott from Sammamah, and it was granted.

This is the morals of the Prophet Muhammad to anyone he meets. Sammamah was only one of the many who received the noble treatment of the Prophet.

How about us? As the people of the Prophet Muhammad, we should imitate him in all aspects of life as instructed by Allah in QS. Al Ahzab: 21.
