DDHK News, India - Famous young Indian actress, Monica, converted to Islam. This “hot” actress decided to leave her past life and chose Islam as her way of life. She wore a hijab and decided to leave the film industry.
"I turned to Islam not for reasons of love or money," he was quoted as saying republica.co.id from Muslim Mirror, Sunday (1/6).
The reason for choosing Islam, he continued, was because he liked and felt comfortable with Islamic principles. Even so, his decision to leave the film industry made him feel lost, but he was determined not to change his mind.
As reported by media in India, Monica's decision was announced during a press conference on Friday in which she released a photo showing her wearing a simple traditional costume with a headscarf. Nor did he reveal any further reasons for his decision to join the world's fastest growing religion. In addition, Monica also changed her name to MG Rahima.
Monica started her career as a child artist in Tamil cinema and has played in more than 50 films. His face has also graced the film industry in South India such as Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Monica won the Tamil Nadu Negara Award for best child actor for her performance in Vijaykanth, a film also starring En Aasai Machan which is known for several Tamil films such as Azhagi, IMSAI Arasan 23m Pulakesi and Silandhi.
In 2001, Monica has changed her name to Paravana for the Malayalam film industry. The actress last appeared in the Tamil film Jannal Oram which was released in November 2013.
Monica is not the first Indian celebrity to embrace Islam this year. Previously, in February, musicians AR Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja also converted to Islam. There are about 180 million Muslims in India which is predominantly Hindu. (ROLLER)
