Having a tower mosque, Nottingham's Muslims rejoice

"I am very proud," said the chairman of the mosque, Aurangzeb Khan, 79 years, from Carlton, told Nottingham Post (2/3). "We have been craving it for the last four or five years and we are really happy with it."

Jamia Masjid Sultania Mosque in Sneinton Dale will be a congregational prayer place for the first time on Sunday, April 13 2014.

The minaret of this mosque can be used for the call to prayer. This tower mosque is the first to be erected in Nottingham. For the last 30 years, Muslims have been able to pray at home because there is no mosque yet.

Imam Maulana Mohammad Aslam Rabbani, who will lead the service, described the minaret as "a symbol of Islam in Nottingham".
