Canadian Muslim Students Hold Islamic Awareness Week

Canadian-Univ-Hosts-Islam-Awareness-WeekDDHK News, Canada - Muslim students at the University of Windsor Canada held an Islamic awareness week (Islamic Awareness Week). This annual event allows Muslim students to present the true message about their faith and dispel misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.

"This week-long event is against negative depictions of Islam," said Hanan Khaled, an executive member of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at the University of Windsor.

"Our volunteers are there to explain about Islam," added Khaled.

Held at the student center, the event, which was held from March 11-15, includes displays, literature and presentations on Islam.

The first day of Islamic Awareness Week which opened Tuesday (11/3) included a presentation entitled "Why I Become Muslim" by four converts who shared their experiences.

Khaled, the event's director, said his party was answering questions and making people more aware about Islam and Muslims.

According to the organizers, the event received tremendous positive feedback and was frequently visited by open-minded people. "They don't come to study."

Canadian Muslims make up around 1,9 percent of the total population of 32,8 million. Islam is the number one non-Christian religion in this North American country. (mel / onislam.net / localhost / project / personal / ddhongkong.org / ddhongkong.org). *
