Is it permissible for Zakat Malls to be postponed?

Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

Ustadz, can the remaining zakat money that has not been distributed be distributed until next year? Please enlighten me, because some haven't reached their haul yet.

ANSWER:

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings be upon you

Perhaps what the questioner meant was about zakat mal, where the condition for issuing zakat mal is to reach the nishab (the minimum amount that zakat must be issued from) and haul (one year has passed). The year in question is hijriyah or qomariyah, not AD. If one of the conditions is not met, then the property is not obliged to issue zakat.

From Ummul mukminin Aisyah radliyallãhu 'anha, Rasulullah shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam said:

لا زكاةَ في مالٍ حتى يَحولَ عليه الحوْلُ (رواه ابن ماجه)

"There is no zakat on wealth until it enters haul (one year)." (Reported by Ibn Majah)

Meanwhile, the nishab for zakat mal (treasure) is 20 dinars or 85 grams of gold, according to a hadith narrated by Ibn Umar and Aisyah radliyallãhu 'anhum:

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى Allah فَصَاعِدًا نِصْفَ دِينَارٍ ، وَمِنْ الْأَرْبَعِينَ دِينَارًا دِينَارًا (رواه ابن ماجه)

"Indeed the Prophet shallallãhu 'alaihi wasallam took from every 20 dinars or more half a dinar, and from every 40 dinars 1 dinar 1 dinar." (Reported by Ibn Majah)

If the assets have reached the nishab and haul, then it is obligatory for zakat to be issued and cannot be postponed. However, if one of the conditions is not fulfilled, then zakat is not obligatory. However, it is permissible to give charity as sunnah such as infaq, shodaqah, waqf, etc.

Hope it works!

Peace, mercy and blessings of God
