The month of Ramadan, which this year falls on Thursday, 23 March 2023 or some people say, has a beautiful date because it contains the number 3 3 times, 23-03-2023. But there is something more important than just that, namely how we prepare in order to welcome it, both physically and mentally.

Among the inner preparations is that the heart will feel happy with the arrival of the month of Ramadan. So that all members of the body will give a positive response in the form of being active in worshiping anything in it, especially fasting. The body becomes healthier because of it.

Among physical or birth preparations, of course, how are we able to condition our bodies so that they are always healthy in carrying out Ramadan worship. One of them is through sunnah fasting in the previous months as a form of warming up.

However, is washing your hair before entering the month of Ramadan mandatory and categorized as a form of physical preparation?

It has become a tradition for people in Indonesia that they are used to washing their hair before entering the month of Ramadan. But actually there are no special commands in it. So if someone does it so that later they can be more active in worship, then that is permissible.

But remember, preparation for bathing is not enough if it is not accompanied by a good preparation of the heart. If someone is sick and cannot wash their hair, then they are not sinful either. What worries her is that by forcing her to take a bath she will become even more unwell.

Indeed there are some recommended baths, as stated in Hãsyiyah Al-Bajuri:

God bless you

"And the rest of the sunnah baths have been mentioned in books that have a long discussion. Among them are cleaning the body before entering the city of Medina, ... and every night in the month of Ramadan. Imam Al-Adzra'i only limits people who want to attend the congregation, while according to a strong opinion there are no restrictions in that regard.

The conclusion is that a person is allowed to wash his hair before the month of Ramadan but does not believe it is a special worship practice because there is no specific recommendation. But if he does it in order to cleanse the body to be more energetic, then it is not prohibited.

Hope it is useful…

God knows
