The Istiqlal Mosque Comes in the Form of a Metaverse

DDHK.ORG - Istiqlal, the pride of the people's mosque Islam di Indonesia, will be present via metaverse technology. The plan is for this largest mosque in Asia to become the first superapps mosque in Indonesia which can be accessed via virtual media titled Istiqlal Metaverse (Istiqlalverse).

Through this application, those who do not have the opportunity to come to the mosque which is located on Jalan Wijaya Kusuma, Central Jakarta, can enjoy the beauty of Istiqlal which has been restored several times in 3D viewing.

As reported Republic, The process of launching the Istiqlalverse was carried out to coincide with the 45th anniversary of the mosque designed by architect Friedrich Silaban. Telkom Digital Business Director Muhamad Fajrin Rasyid explained, the Istiqlalverse application can be accessed through MetaNesia, a metaverse world that creates virtual interactions and new experiences in introducing products to the digital world.

In this application there are several rooms Mosque Istiqlal and courtyard areas that can be viewed in 3D by the public.

"This is only stage one and we will improve according to future developments. Later the activities at the Istiqlal Mosque will also be broadcast through this Istiqlalverse," he said after attending the interfaith healthy heart exercise agenda in the courtyard of the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/2/2023).

Istiqlalverse shows an avatar character who is watching the activities that are currently taking place. With this digitization, people in any part of the world as long as they have gadgets or other devices can access various activities held at this mosque.

Istiqlal organizes education for female ulema cadres together with the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP), which incidentally is the only one in the world. "Those who are entitled to become scholars are not only men but also women," he said.

Head of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Dwikorita Karnawati also appreciated the various progress of the Istiqlal Mosque. He admits that he is amazed at the figure of Prof. Nasaruddin who has succeeded in bringing the Istiqlal Mosque as a role model not only in religious life, but also in adapting and mitigating climate change.

Istiqlal is one of the mosques that is truly environmentally friendly by using solar energy and a waste water recycling system. According to Dwikorita, this management might make the Istiqlal Mosque the only mosque in the world that really pays attention to environmental aspects.
