Again, Indonesian Migrant Workers in Hong Kong are Positive Corona

DDHK. ORG - An Indonesian domestic worker in Hong Kong has tested positive for COVID-19. The 44-year-old Indonesian migrant worker who was tested for Corona on Saturday (22/8/2020) is a close contact with a previously confirmed COVID-19 patient.

This was reported by the Hong Kong Hospital Authority on Sunday (23/8/2020), as reported by the official website of the Hong Kong Government, news.gov.hk. "The housekeeper, 44 years old, was admitted to the hospital on July 27 for treatment of leukemia," said Dr Lau Ka-hin, Chief Manager (Quality & Standards) of the Hospital Authority, told reporters at a press conference.

"He was tested for COVID-19 because he had a fever," said Dr Lau.

This Indonesian migrant worker tested negative for corona on the first day of hospitalization. However, due to persistent fever, the patient was given various types of treatment, including antibiotics, due to the increasingly blurry chest X-rays recorded on August 9. This was done by the hospital, because doctors thought his fever was a clinical effect of his leukemia and low white blood cells.

Finally, the Indonesian migrant worker was tested for COVID-19 again, after experiencing a high fever on August 22. He later tested positive for the corona virus.

"I think doctors treat patients according to symptoms, as well as clinical laboratory results. Since the patient has both leukemia and low white blood cells, it is difficult to rule out other causes of fever in this patient. So, many tests have been carried out, including the COVID-19 test on the first day and also yesterday (August 22), "said Dr Lau.
