As of Friday, there are 19 cases of Omicron in Indonesia

DDHK.ORG - On Friday, December 24, 2021, the Indonesian Ministry of Health announced that there were 11 additional new cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Indonesia. With this addition, based on the results of Whole Genome Sequencing, a total of 19 people in Indonesia who were recorded to be infected with this variant of the corona which is thought to have originated from South Africa.

This additional 11 cases are imported T-shirts. Six of them have just arrived from Turkey. The rest came from Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. They are currently undergoing quarantine in Jakarta.

Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, appealed to the public to remain vigilant with the very fast spread of Omicron. For now, it is better for people to postpone their trips abroad, be disciplined in implementing health protocols, and immediately follow the Covid-19 vaccination.

“Self-awareness not to travel first must be done. Especially in the midst of the Christmas and New Year holidays, it is important for us to take care of each other," he said, as reported by CNN Indonesia. [DDHKNews]
