DDHK.ORG - Dozens of teams deployed Dompet Dhuafa East Java (DD East Java) and Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa to Lumajang, East Java. This was done as a quick response to the eruption of Mount Semeru which occurred on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Tim Dompet Dhuafa East Java immediately sent its members from Surabaya and Malang. Meanwhile, DMC Dompet Dhuafa sent a team from its headquarters in Pondok Ranji, East Ciputat District, South Tangerang (Tangsel), Banten. Response teams sent include evacuation, medical, logistics, documentation, and other fields. Dompet Dhuafa also sent a fleet of ambulances to the evacuation points of the affected residents.
“After receiving news of the eruption, we immediately mobilized a team of local volunteers and also from the headquarters. For data collection, assessment, and intervention for emergency assistance to urge affected communities," said Haryo Mojopahit, Chief Executive of DMC Dompet Dhuafa.
Previously, the Regent of Lumajang, Thoriqul Haq, hoped that there would be additional assistance personnel, in preparation for the evacuation of victims of the natural disaster which would be carried out on Sunday, December 5, 2021. “I need additional volunteers, community and institutional friends, who can help us, to tomorrow will help to evacuate victims," said the regent, while observing the area affected by Mount Semeru's Hot Avalanche Cloud (APG) in Kamar Kajang Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, Saturday (4/12/2021) night.
